A Sketch, on the Eve of Her Departure

A pencil and watercolor sketch of Nightingale made by her sister Parthenope shortly before her departure for the Crimean. It is inscribed on the back "Florence Nightingale at Embley - meditating on her great enterprise 1854." The picture was put up for auction by her descendants in 2004.
